I’ve always used De Lorenzo haircare because I have sensitive skin and suffer from contact dermatitis on my hands, so I tend to gravitate towards organic or natural products. However, my husband is extremely sensitive to fragrances - regardless of if they are natural/botanical - so I had to switch up my haircare routine. I tried a fragrance-free product from the same brand, but unfortunately, it left my hair feeling dirty and smelling like glycerine, which was a disappointment.

On the recommendation of my new hairdresser, who uses Nioxin in her salon (she found it was the only shampoo that didn’t trigger her own scalp allergies), I decided to try the Nioxin System 1 Cleanser Shampoo.

When I first used it, I was really impressed! My husband said my hair had never smelled so good, which was a huge compliment considering his sensitivity to fragrances. I have long, thick hair with fine strands, and I’ve found that this shampoo leaves my hair feeling clean and light without stripping it. Plus, I bought both the shampoo and conditioner on sale, which made the bulk sizes much more affordable. These sizes will last me a long time, and my husband can even use them too (which is a bonus!).

The only reason I’m giving it four stars instead of five is because of the menthol. It can make my scalp tingle a bit too much during use, and the scent is quite strong while you’re using it - though it dissipates once you rinse.

Overall, I’m very happy with the product and the results, and I’m glad I made the switch. I’ll definitely continue using it.
