Fake It! This Summer

With summer just around the corner, we all want that healthy glow without baking in the sun.  Prolonged sun exposure can quickly age your skin, causing it to dry out and wrinkle. It can even cause skin cancer. So how do we get the best out of our Fake Tan this summer and all year round.

There are three key factors to remember Exfoliate, Moisturise and choose the right tan for you.

Firstly, always exfoliate before applying tan to remove dead skin, this will stop tan looking patchy, especially on the knee and elbow areas.  If you're a fake tan regular then you must exfoliate the old tan off prior to re-applying.

Using a moisturiser on your body is just as important as moisturising your face.  It will nourish the skin stop dryness, dehydration and once again stop fake tan from looking patchy.  To ensure an even tan, use a product that hydrates and nourishes the skin.

There are also a number of products on the market that contain a low level of dihydroxyacetone DHA (the active ingredient that makes your skin tan) that can help maintain the depth of colour in the tan.

Choosing The Perfect Tan Cream, Mousse or Spray, which will be best to suit your skin type and tan experience…

A cream tan is great for a dry skin as it will tan and nourish the skin.  Also it is prefect for a first time user, as it does not dry as quickly as mousse tan.

A mousse tan dries quickly and is lightweight in texture more for your normal to oily skin.

Spray tan is great for everyone who does not want to get his or her hands dirty. However for our first time users you may find it hard to reach those difficult areas. Remember when using spray tan apply in an area you can easily wipe down like your shower.

Finally, when applying cream or mousse tan it is best to use a tanning mitt.  A tanning mitt will help achieve a streak free even tan and strain free palms.
