Summer Skin

Nothing feels better than the suns’ rays on your skin, but how can we make sure we have radiant skin and not tight, dry or dehydrated skin this summer.

Here are a few tips to help you stay on top of your summer skincare.

Should I change my everyday routine in the summer months?

Only a slight change may need to be made.  You will still need to cleanse and moisturise twice a day however with the heat and humidity, you may need to change your moisturiser to a lighter formulation. If your skin becomes shiny a few hours after applying your moisturiser or if you have become more breakout-prone, it’s likely that your skin needs a moisturiser that is not as rich.

How can I keep my skin cool and hydrated this summer?

Alpha-H Moisture Boosting Facial Mist is my summer go-to-product, which I can use all over my face.  A moisturising facial spritz that instantly revitalises thirsty skin using hydrating botanical extracts and calming essential oils. Ideal for boosting hydration levels in air conditioning, after sun exposure or after applying mineral makeup. A tip from one of my clients is; she loves to keep it in the fridge for a cooling treat.

How can I care for my skin after a day in the sun?

To moisturise and rebalance, use Skinstitut Multi-Active Oil. Made from pure plant oils, including macadamia, avocado and rosehip oil.  This oil is perfect for dehydrated skin to protect against free radical damage and to deeply hydrate and nourish your sun loving skin. My expert tip is, apply one pump morning and/or evening to face and neck, after cleansing and prior to moisturising.

Don’t forget your eye area is prone to sun damage, so make sure you wear sunglasses to help protect this delicate area, and use an eye cream. Try Dermalogica Total Eye Care SPF15, for its SPF and moisturising benefits.

One final tip for that perfect summer always use a sunscreen from head to toe.
